Former Pro Scott Nydam to Feature at Battenkill

Former Professional Scott Nydam to be Featured at the Tour of the Battenkill

March 12, 2014
Cambridge, NY – Former US professional Scott Nydam will participate in the Tour of the Battenkill to highlight the 10th Anniversary of the event on April 5-6 in Cambridge, NY USA.

Nydam, winner of the Mountains Classification at the 2008 Tour of California, won the 2009 Tour of the Battenkill Professional Invitational on a solo break from the early stages of the 200 km course. Nydam will participate in the Tour of the Battenkill Open Race on Sunday April 6.

Nydam, of Gallup, New Mexico is excited to get back to the Battenkill Valley in Upstate New York and the scene of one his last races as a professional before retiring in 2010.

"Some of my best and challenging moments on bike took place at Battenkill.  Few races in North America offer these kinds of roads and a sense of what it's like to race in Europe.  I have been wanting to get back ever since."

Scheduled for April 5-6, the 10th Annual Tour of the Battenkill, presented by Visit Flanders and Eddy Merckx Bicycles, is North America’s largest Pro/Am road cycling race with more than 3,000 participants from 45 states and 15 countries in 2013.  Styled after spring classics like the century-old Tour of Flanders, the Tour of the Battenkill features several dirt road sections and challenging climbs. Starting and finishing in the small village of Cambridge, NY, category racers and Open Race gran fondo participants will compete on a 65 mile course through the scenic Washington County, NY countryside.
